A House of Hailos Team Mahjong League

Football season is here, and we're bringing the rivalry to the Mahjong tables!

Join us for Tiles & Touchdowns, a 6-week team Mahjong league filled with friendly competition, team spirit, great food and, of course, plenty of Mahj!

When you register, choose your team affiliation below:

🐘 Team Alabama
🐅 Team Auburn
🏈 Team Rest of the Nation - loyal to another team
🥂 Team Tailgate —for those who couldn't care less about football and are just here to Mahj!!

Once registration closes, we'll create 4-player teams within each affiliation. Depending on registration, there may be multiple Alabama, Auburn, Rest of the Nation or Tailgate teams—and each foursome will get its own team name!

HOW IT WORKS

🀄 4 players per team
🀄 4 rounds of Mahjong each Thursday night
🏈 Your individual score contributes to your team's weekly score
🏆 Teams earn points toward the season standings each week
⭐ Individual scores are tracked throughout the season
🏆 At the end of six weeks, we'll crown both a Tiles & Touchdowns Team Champion and an Individual Season MVP

Each Thursday, you'll be assigned to a table and play all 4 rounds with the same three players. Table assignments will change from week to week, so you'll face different opponents throughout the season while earning points for your team.

What's football season without a tailgate?

Each Thursday we'll have tailgate-inspired food and drinks to enjoy while we play. Expect something a little different each week—because Tiles & Touchdowns should be as much about the fun and friendships as it is about the competition!

THE TRANSFER PORTAL

Have to miss a Thursday? Enter the Transfer Portal!

We'll have a pool of substitute players available to fill open roster spots when needed. House of Hailos will assign substitutes, and the substitute's score that evening will count toward the team they're representing.

Format: American Mahjong using the current NMJL card

Players should already know how to play American Mahjong. This is not an instructional league.

Mahjong 101

New to Mahjong? You're exactly where you need to be.

Whether you've never touched a tile or just want a confidence refresher, Mahjong 101 is your perfect starting point — a lively, hands-on introduction to this timeless game of strategy, connection, and fun. Hosted in the stylish setting of House of Hailos, this 2-hour class walks you through everything you need to play with confidence from day one.

What You'll Learn:

• Game setup and tile basics
• How to read the National Mah Jongg League card
• Rules of play
• Practice rounds with guided instruction
• Common terms, tips, and winning strategies

Tiles are provided — no experience necessary, just bring your curiosity.

Includes your 2026 Mah Jongg card (a $15 value, yours to keep).

Ready to play Mahjong but still want a little help along the way?

Guided Mahjong Play Night is designed for players who have completed Mahjong 101 or understand the basics but would like more practice before joining regular open play. We’ll play at a comfortable pace while offering help with reading the card, choosing a hand, navigating the Charleston, using jokers and making decisions throughout the game.

Questions are encouraged, and there’s no pressure to play quickly or keep score. This is your chance to practice, build confidence and become more comfortable playing independently.
